Racism The Fight For Equal Justice Is A Spectator Sport
Racism entails several different and often related philosophies concentrated on the concept of race. Today in society, children from all different backgrounds are growing up not knowing what to believe and what to think about whom they are and where they come from. ââ¬Å"Racism has become more than just individual beliefs. Itââ¬â¢s become part of coherent sets and ideas legitimizing social practices that reinforce the unequal distribution of power between groups designated in racial and/or ethnic termsâ⬠(Dossier: Understanding Racism Today 4-6). Although Racism has declined, more and more people are accepting the fact that our world is made of black and white, not just white or not just back, racism today still affects society. For too many people today, the fight for equal justice is a spectator sport: a kind of NBA game in which all the players are black and all the spectators, white. But in this true to life sport, the fate of the fans is closely intertwined with that of the players and points scored on the floor are points for all (Ezorsky). Some things, like social preferences, are based on racist allegations, such as a black man applying for a job thatââ¬â¢s fit for a white man, or a Jewish man walking into a German manââ¬â¢s store. Its things like this that makes the world more detached and causes inequality within the human race.
